The Dangers of Corn!
01/03/10 19:44
I recently read a very interesting article about the dangers of corn, which is a good lesson at looking at where are meat comes from and what types of meat are more healthy. Animals such as cows would normally eat grass which is purely natural. However, a lot of cattle are force fed corn which is a cheaper way of feeding them. The problem is this - there guts are designed to eat grass, but, when faced with corn, their digestive system essentially becomes sick which allows dangerous bugs, such as E.Coli to grow inside.
This has the potential to contaminate meat and every year people die from E.coli food poisoning. Therefor, it makes sense to only eat safer, healthy grass fed beef instead of the unhealthy grain fed meats.
Also, it has been shown that corn fed meats contain less nutrients than their grass fed counterparts.
I have found myself, now, in supermarkets, searching out the grass fed varieties of meat - reduces risk of illness which is important if you exercise a lot and provides more nutrients.
